Discrimination

My nephew Aidan, who is 5 and 1/2 and is one of the reasons I walked on 9/28/08... experienced his first incidence of discrimination because of his Autism!

A Letter to my son

Dear Cooper,

I was asked why I walk and why so many kids are diagnosed on the Autism spectrum.

I walk because I don't know why so many kids are on the spectrum. I walk because someday we'll know why.

I walk for the day you were born, and the way I felt when I heard your cry for very first time in the delivery room.

Douglas? Frog Fighters For the Cause

Cody-Seven years later

We have been the top fundraising team in New England for the past 5 years. We keep going because even though the landscape of Autism has changed, our Cody has not and this is what we can do so HE makes a difference in this fight!

First Time Walkers!

Representing the families of JHA affected by Autism Autism is a lifelong neurological disorder that impairs a person's ability to communicate and relate to others. Today, a shocking 1 in 150 children are diagnosed with Autism. Autism receives less than 5% of the research funding of the many less prevalent childhood diseases.

A high five!

A high five, a holler that "I did it" together with a jump and crouching down move you do while clapping your hands in excitement after making that basket on the basketball courts, a smile and reminder to me to follow the rules while we ride our bikes to school, are all little things that make my heart swell, or as the saying goes "my cup runneth over" for the love I have for you "Mikey", my son.
