Music & Movement in the Educational Setting
Music and movement have been used successfully as an intervention tool with children of all ages, with and without disabilities. Music and movement are easily accessible, non-threatening, and great facilitation tools that can be incorporated into daily routines and activities by parents and service providers to communicate expectations and provide basic structure for children. This adult information session will discuss and review the findings of the latest neurological research, illustrating that consistently using music and movement can change the actual chemistry of a child’s brain. We will discuss the types of music and movement that can best be paired with an activity to produce the desired result. Also, we will review the basic guidelines for creating unique and individualized songs to be used to address specific concerns. Session will be interactive and hands-on. Yes, we (and you) will actually sing- and laugh!
