T.R.A.C.E.S. - A Day Program for Adults and Seniors with Disabilities

Day program for adults and seniors with disabilities run by the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department, Division of Therapeutic Recreation from Monday - Friday (no programming on Wednesdays) for each of the following weeks:

July 6th - July 10th
July 13th - July 17th
July 20th - July 24th
July 27th - July 31st
August 3rd - August 7th
August 10th - August 14th

The program includes a sports session, a social group session, a fitness session and an art sessiosn. Come join us for one or more of these weeks for recreation and fun!

For adults, ages 18 and older with disabilities. If you want to develop a new hobby or participate in an old favorite, then join our bowling program! Have a great time bowling with old friends, while making new friends! Date: 7/11/2009

Workshop Opportunity for Parents of Children Newly Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder Third Thursday of Every Month. Date: 7/16/2009


Autism Speaks Night at the Hickory Motor Speedway

On July 18th 2009, Hickory Motor Speedway and Hickory Cars of Hondas will present Autism Speaks Night at the Races. A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to Autism Speaks of the Carolinas. Fans will not only have the opportunity to enjoy a wild night of high speed racing action from the drivers of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, but they will also have the opportunity to learn about autism while supporting a great cause.

The TR Spirit Squad!
The TR Spirit Squad is for ages 8 and older with disabilities who would like to cheer!!!!! This program will encourage improved coordination, social interaction within a group and self determination. Opening ceremonies September 9th: 5:30 p.m.-6:45 p.m. Practices on Wednesdays from August 26th to October 28th, and games Saturdays from September 12th to October 31st. Registration deadline is August 3rd! Date: 8/3/2009


Arc of Mecklenburg County FREE Workshop Series
Back to School: Learning about the ins and outs of the educational system for your child from preschool through elementary school. Date: 8/8/2009

The First Annual Believe Team Golf Tournament
100% of the proceeds from this event will go to Autism Speaks and the Autism Walks event! Date: 8/15/2009


Cooking Around the World

Explore the world through cooking! Each day we will focus on a different country and its unique food and culture. Beginning cooks and seasoned chefs can practice their cooking skills, learn about outer cultures and eat their creations every day! Fees for this 4-day class from August 17th through 20th include all materials and food.

Challenger Flag Football's 4th Season
Don’t miss out on this exciting program offered in partnership by Mecklenburg County Park Recreation’s Therapeutic Recreation Section, the Carolina Panthers and Pop Warner Football. All children will be winners in this league where everyone gets to play and be a STAR! Please note the registration deadline of August 14th. Date: 9/9/2009
