Advocacy:
Autism Speaks Applauds Pennsylvania House Speaker Dennis O'Brien and State Lawmakers for Passing Strongest Autism Insurance Mandate in the Nation.
Family Services:
Via of the Lehigh Valley in Bethlehem was awarded a $23,770 community grant to assist with furthering its "Customized Employment" program. The grant supports Via of the Lehigh Valley's initiative to advance employment opportunities for young adults and adults with autism.
Science:
University of Pittsburgh/Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh recently named an Autism Treatment Network site. This grant is valued at almost $450,000 over the next three years.
Thomas Jefferson University Researcher, Roseann Schaaf, Ph.D., receives 3-year grant to look at the effectivness of sensory based strategies for improving adaptive behaviors in children with Autism. The grant is valued at $449,450.

Philadelphia - The 2008 Philadelphia Walk Now for Autism Kick Off took place on Thursday, July 10th at the CBS 3/CW Philly 57 studio in Philadelphia. The reception included wonderful food, moving testimonials from Michael Colleran, President and General Manager of CBS Philadelphia, and the 2008 Walk Chair, Stacey Fliegelman, and concluded with a tour of their state-of-the-art studio! Special thanks are due to the CBS 3/CW Philly 57 team for their hospitality and support, to the evening’s hosts, evening news anchors, Susan Barnett and Chris May, the 2008 Walk Committee, and all of the families that attended the event in support of the 2008 Walk. We look forward to seeing everyone again at the 2008 Philadelphia Walk Now for Autism on Saturday, September 20th at Citizens Bank Park!
