I Volunteer for Autism Speaks because:
..."autism is effecting all of us"
..."This is how I can make a difference"
..."I want to dance at my son's wedding"
Whether it's stuffing envelopes, identifying service providers, or chairing a walk, volunteers make the difference!
2008 Tennessee Walk Committee
Knoxville Community Leadership Committee
Walk Committee
Everyone wants to come out on Walk Day (and we want you to bring all of your family and friends!). Yet, without strong, well functioning committees Autism Speaks in Tennessee could not sustain its year round autism awareness, fundraising, advocacy and community building efforts.
The Tennessee Walk Now for Autism Committee meets on a monthly basis and coordinates the entire effort of the Walk program in Nashville. Positions are open on many different sub-committees, including: Food and Beverage, Children’s, Logistics, Team Recruitment and Sponsorship. A monthly commitment to attend meetings is needed as well as a commitment to the sub-committee you volunteer on.
Walk Now for Autism Brochure Distribution
Help get the word out about the Inaugural Tennessee Walk Now for Autism on Saturday, September 13, 2008. Pick up brochures and drop them off at distribution sites in your neighborhood.
Local Community Events
Quite often, Autism Speaks is asked to host an informational table at local events. We are looking for volunteers, throughout the state, that have a few hours to dedicate to staffing a resource table. All information will be provided ahead of time.
Learn the Signs Autism Training
The Knoxville Community Leadership Committee is busy planning Learn the Signs trainings for pediatricians, and day care providers. If you are interested in helping with this please contact the Knoxville Community.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please contact the Autism Speaks office at: tennessee@autismspeaks.org for the Nashville area and easttennessee@autismspeaks.org for the Knoxville area.
