Autism Speaks is dedicated to:

Science and Research - leading us to answers and interventions
Family Services - providing families with information, tools and resources
Awareness - increasing public knowledge and understanding of autism
Advocacy - accelerating national and state autism legislation

Nationwide we have funded over $62 million in these areas and in Virginia $63,395 in Community grants. With your help we can to do even more! Whether you are interested in raising money, volunteering your time, researching local services, encouraging your politicians to support autism legislation, or just staying up to date with what is happening in the Virginia autism community, we invite you to visit these community pages often.

Emile Rissman, Ph.D. at the University of Virginia received an Autism Speaks 2008 Environmental Factors and Autism Award of $300,000 over 3 years for his study entitled "Epigenetics, hormones and sex differences in autism incidence."
